Get engineers talking to customers

The best tech strategy is user-centric. At the end of the day, who keeps the lights on?

Your customers.

And the way to grow the business and increase profit is to provide more value.

How?

Experience what a user of your app goes through.

Find out where the rough edges are.

Find out where they drop off.

Find out what they need.

Two quick ways that can be easily implemented.

  1. Put developers on customer support issues. Once they see the same issue 5 times, there’s no chance a patch ain’t rolling out tomorrow.
  2. Team up with the product team and do customer interviews.

But if I ask the users what they want, they’ll ask for a faster horse!

Dismissing user feedback is the easy way out.

The truth is, you want to take it with a grain of salt and find out trends in your target audience.

And once you do that, finding out what to work on next will make a lot more sense than trying to outsmart the people that you serve in isolation.

Yours,

Taj
