A big block of uninterrupted time
I’m one of those people who jumps on every call to help out my team. I like to feel I’m contributing hands-on.
But that’s rarely a good thing. It doesn’t build autonomy and confidence.
Over the years, I’ve learned that setting up focus time in my calendar for deep work without meetings is not just a good idea; it’s a necessity. It’s the key to making progress on any kind of strategic work.
And you know what?
Plenty of those “can we jump on a quick call” meetings resolved themselves as soon as I had more important things to do.
There’s rarely something so crucial that it can’t wait until the afternoon.
Sure, if we’ve been hacked, let me know immediately. Everything else will wait.
So, here’s a suggestion: Look at the calendar for next week and book a few big focus blocks to work deeply on the most impactful things on your plate.
Even better, set a focus block for your team and enforce some meetingless time for everyone.
Have a fantastic week!
Yours, Taj
