The tools are getting insane

When I started, we had PHP4.0, a broken Internet Explorer, and were doing web layout with tables (in Dreamweaver).

Now, it’s easier than ever to ship something to production. We’re still using PHP, but we moved away from IE and table layouts.

And we have improved the infrastructure, tooling, and developer experience massively in the last 20 years.

Just stumbled upon PocketBase, written in Go. It’s so straightforward that you can build a simple backend for your service in just one file.

The performance metrics don’t look half bad and you can host it for free on fly.io.

I guess I have a weekend project!

Yours, Taj
