Connecting an LLM to your data
LLMs have some very powerful abilities, but their use is limited if you can’t connect them to your data sources.
Copy and pasting only takes you so far.
Wouldn’t it be great to connect Claude to your database and ask it to find out what your most frequent buyers have in common?
What about sending some requirements and having it clone the repo from GitHub, change the code, and push a pull request?
Now it’s possible.
Claude just rolled out the model context protocol (MCP).
It’s a standard for connecting AI assistants to the systems where data lives, including content repositories, business tools, and development environments.
I haven’t had a chance to test it out properly yet, but when I do, I’ll let you know my thoughts.
