Context matters

It’s good practice to zoom out from the technical details and look at the big picture.

We engineers love to get into the weeds. Solving very specific problems all day long.

But every once in a while it’s good to look at what we’re building in the whole context of the company.

It may turn out that the feature we think is so important is actually just a tiny piece of the whole pie.

The business is successful when everyone is successful. And if you just laser focus on your small garden, you’re not doing anyone any favors.

Keeping the goal of the company in mind and contributing to the goal, not the feature is the key.
