Mastering office politics

You know how people say, “I avoid politics at work”.

That strategy may work when you’re a grunt.

But in a leadership position, you’re one of the elected officials. There’s no avoiding the politics.

What you do instead is develop a strong spider sense of who is campaigning for what.

Learn the power dynamics.

If you want to make real changes to the way things are done (because you have a vision for something better), you can’t do it alone.

You need to get other people on board.

That means finding allies, drumming up support, and winning people over.

You can’t avoid politics.

But you can choose how you’ll play.

Best regards,

Taj
